CORONAVIRUS – SELF ISOLATING AND NEED HELP?

The Parish Council of Norton Sub Hamdon, in conjunction with the church, are offering community support for anyone who is having to self-isolate or are vulnerable, as the Covid-19 now reaches a pandemic stage.

If you require help with food or medication deliveries or anything else, then please let us know by contacting one of the phone numbers or email addresses below.

OFFERING HELP TO THE COMMUNITY – DO YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE WHO IS VULNERABLE?

A form has been produced that you can fill out with your details, offering different levels of support. You can then post the form through the door of a vulnerable person or person you may know who is self-isolating. Forms can either be downloaded from the Parish Council website (link below)for you to print off at home, or I have printed some off that are available at the Post Office counter.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: If you feel you would be able to help with deliveries etc, please let one of the above contacts know.

NORTON SHOP is also offering to take shopping orders over the phone for anyone who cannot leave their house and needs help. You can either pay over the phone or leave the payment when your order is delivered to your doorstep.

Ham Hill is a nationally important geological area, is home to rare and exciting wildlife and plant life and has a fascinating history. Come and explore the peaceful, leafy woodlands and glades, grassy meadows, impressive ramparts and iconic hamstone memorials and sculptures. There is extensive parking on site and loads of events to get involved with. The site is managed by South Somerset District Council.  Offering incredible views of the South Somerset Moors, Exmoor and the Mendip Hills, Ham Hill is a 164 hectare (390 acres) country park centred on a huge Iron Age hill fort.

A warm welcome awaits you at The Lord Nelson from Helen and Mark.  Their key aim when opening The Lord Nelson was to combine a welcoming village local with excellent food and drink that fits every customer’s requirements. Whether you have a Gluten free diet, have just come back from a muddy dog walk or require a three course meal and a bottle wine, Mark, Helen and the team will welcome you in and do their best to leave a positive impression. The Lord Nelson is situated in the picturesque village of Norton-sub-Hamdon at the bottom of the Roman Hill Fort, Ham Hill. The pub is full of history, previously being called The Nelsons Arms in the 1900s, it became The Lord Nelson in the early 20th century.

The Lord Nelson has a skittle alley that can be used for a number of functions, when it’s not being used for its sole purpose, these functions include; christenings, parties, special occasions and business brunches. The skittle alley has a capacity of 60 and whether it’s a buffet you require or a sit down meal, the team at The Lord Nelson will cater for you to the highest of standards.

Amanda’s Café at The Reading Room is open 4 days a week – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9.30am-4.00pm.

Serving lovely homemade food, Amanda is proving a real hit with both village residents and people passing the Norton junction and seeing the board.  Well worth a visit- you won’t be disappointed.

NORTON SUB HAMDON VILLAGE HALL

Many visitors to Norton-sub-Hamdon first discover the village hall as guests at the many events held at our Village Hall.

Our Village Hall was completely rebuilt in 2006 and is the perfect location for all sorts of gatherings. From Weddings to Birthday Parties, Fayres and Festivals.
